1948 Peter Cawthorn Lavery born in Wakefield Yorkshire.

1953. Attended Saint Mary’s school

1956. Heath View County Primary School

1959 Ings Road School

1962 Wakefield College of Art- GCE Art course 15 years old.

1964 Wakefield College of Art. Pre Diploma Art course.

1965 Accepted for Ruskin Fine art at the Ashmolean in Oxford— Govt. unsupported.

1966 Accepted at Loughborough for Ceramics. Also Liverpool for Photography.

1966 Attended Liverpool for Graphics studying photography.

1966 Acquired a transfer to Leeds Kitson College for new Photographic course.

1968 Photographed ‘Down and Outs’ Saint Georges Crypt Leeds and Robert Brothers Circus.

1968. Photographed ‘Troubles in Northern Ireland”

1970 Began Photography course at the Royal College of Art London.

1970 Started series on Circus.

1972 Graduated from Royal College of Art .- Master of Arts. Photography.

1972 Scholarship from Telegraph Magazine. Photographer of the year.

1972 Started working for Telegraph.

1972 First record sleeve. Arthur Brown. ‘Kingdom Come’

1973 First studio Finborough road London

1974 Lectured part time London College of Printing ‘Alternative Processes”

1974 Made first Platinum print in Britain since 2nd world war. Basis for RPS show.

1975 Lectured at Royal College of Art part time ‘Special Projects’.

1976 Started working for Sunday Times - Bruce Bernard.

1979 Acquired new studio in Battersea.

1980 Started re building Battersea studio.

1981 Official shoot for Sunday Times covering Charles and Diana Royal Wedding.

1986 Official shoot for Sunday Times covering Andrew and Sarah Royal Wedding.

1986 Buenos Aires, Castlemaine XXXX, Marlboro series until 1996.

1987 ‘My Tribe my people’ Xingu Brazil. Of Humankind series begins.

1992 Moved to Brandier. Started building studio complex there in 1985.

1997 Finished book Circus Work.

1998 Show at RPS.

2000 Of Humankind book.

2001 Of Humankind Gallery Albrecht, Munich.
